Our methodology

Useful rankings need
receipts.

All 49 directory locations appear in Missouri’s current Verified Dispensary Locator as operating storefronts—not merely in the broader license list—and now have expanded editorial reviews covering available hours, contacts, services, menus and ranking evidence. Confidence and evidence gaps are disclosed rather than filled with assumptions.

Method last reviewed September 12, 2026

1. Operating-storefront gate

A location must appear in Missouri’s Verified Dispensary Locator, which is narrower than the broader active-license dashboard. A license by itself is not enough. Kansas smoke shops, hemp stores, delivery-only sellers, not-yet-open licensees and unlicensed businesses are excluded.

2. Primary-source check

We collect addresses, hours, phone numbers, menus, published discounts and services from the operator’s own location page or ordering system. Public directories are secondary cross-checks, not the final authority.

3. Criteria-specific scoring

Each page weights only the factors that answer its question. Late-hours rankings emphasize schedule and pickup access; service rankings emphasize guidance and repeated shopper feedback; selection rankings emphasize current menu breadth.

4. Freshness review

Every page carries a review date. License status is rechecked before publication and on a recurring review; volatile facts such as menu size, promotions and hours are checked more often than ownership history.

What a score means

One store can be #1 here and #5 somewhere else.

That is the point. “Best” without a defined need is mostly marketing. Each guide starts with a different question, uses a different weighting and limits the result to five stores.

Guide typeHighest-weight evidence
Product selectionCurrent menu breadth, formats, brands and availability
Price & dealsEveryday prices, recurring offers, eligibility and reward value

Editorial independence

Rankings are editorial. Advertising, enhanced profiles or commercial relationships cannot buy a position. If a commercial relationship ever exists with a listed business, it will be disclosed on the relevant page.

Geographic rule

The audience is the bi-state Kansas City metro, but eligible dispensaries are on the Missouri side only. Kansas has no state-licensed medical or recreational dispensaries, and marijuana must never cross the state line.

What we do not claim

A ranking is not medical advice, a guarantee of inventory or an instruction to consume. Menus and promotions change quickly; confirm details directly with the store before traveling.
